NTFS means New Technology File System. It is the file system which is used by Windows operating systems for storing files on the drives. The NTFS is appropriate for Windows system drives, internal drives, SSD drives, and most external drives working on the Windows computer system. In comparison with the FAT32 file system, the NTFS file system allows creating large files, detailed permissions, journaling, and compression of files. Thus, the NTFS can be a good choice while formatting a drive if the main task is working only with Windows OS. But if files are exchanged between different operating systems like Windows, macOS, etc., then choose another file system.
